Birth is a life-changing adventure. Like most great adventures, it can be a little scary without a guide who knows the way. As a trained professional birth doula and childbirth educator, I can help you navigate the long road ahead. Call or Email for a free consultation.
What is a doula?
A doula cares for a woman through labor. She has a knowledge of what the mother wants her labor to be and does everything in her power to give the mother the birth experience she wants. She is trained in techniques that provide natural pain relief and encourage labor progression. She is a willing servant, ready to do whatever is needed.
What a doula is not-
A doula does not take the place of a husband or partner.
Rather, a doula guides the partner in how he may best help
the mother. However, if a case arises where the partner is
unavailable a doula will provide the support needed.
A doula is not a doctor/midwife
The doula in not a medical professional. While the doula can
provide information, she is not qualified to perform medical
treatments or identify medical problems.
A doula is not the mother
The doula wants the best outcome for mother and baby, but
it is up to the mother to decide what that is and make all
necessary decisions.
